Squeezing the Juice...

My #ThirstyThursday post is about squeezing the juice.  Do you remember that movie Encino man where Pauly Shore says "Squeezing the juice"?  I always think of him when I think of juicing.

Our family purchased a juicer this week and so far we've gone through an entire container of juice.  I say this proudly because my husband is addicted to sweet tea and has passed that on to me and a little bit to our kids.  I'm not saying sweet tea is bad, but when consumed by the gallon, it's definitely not contributing to a healthy lifestyle.

My husband has been talking about getting a juicer for months now, but after the weekend and a bet we've made about him getting healthier, he finally convinced me to do it.  When we'd talked about this months ago,I thought when I bought us a Ninja that we could use it for juicing.  I love my Ninja, don't get me wrong, but it's not a juicer.  The one that we got this week is a juicer and only a juicer.

Monday through today my husband has had a HUGE glass of juice either at home (due to the holiday and my daughter's preschool graduation) or at work.  He said that he felt like he got a jolt of energy from drinking the juice and I told him he needs to bring it to work with him to get him through the afternoon slump of time between lunch and dinner.

Today, as our first container of juice was finished, I decided to find a recipe and refill the container.  I clicked around and landed on an article called "Benefits of Cucumber Juice"  Not only was it a great read about Cucumbers, which I had bought a ton of the other day, but there was a great, simple recipe at the bottom.

The container is all set and ready to be consumed.  I'll update with a note about if my husband likes this recipe or not.  I like it, but he's got a pickier palette than I do.

I've also added a Juice Recipe Page on my pinterest account.  Feel free to check it out and send me any of your favorite juicing recipes to add to my collection!
