Tea: American Style or British Style?

Since starting to change my diet, I've tried to cut out soda and my new replacements are coffee and tea.  As I chose my morning drink today I thought about the way I drink my tea.  There are a lot of ways to have your coffee, God knows Starbucks exists because of this fact, but there are also a few different ways to drink your tea!

Consider the following types of ways to drink your tea:

  • American Style: Tea. Honey or Sugar. Lemon.
  • British Style: With Cream (Or Milk)
In my former life, I was an executive assistant and part of those duties included tea and coffee service for most visitors to our office.  The CEO I worked for happened to be Dutch and he drank his tea British style.  At the time I thought this was the strangest thing even though I'd been to England as a kid and knew that overseas people did things differently than home.

One day I tried it.

Working in Chicago, through two winters, this California girl became obsessed!  A good Earl Grey with some milk and a little sugar was almost like a melted milkshake to me! (Maybe I'm the only one who likes things like that, but at the time being obsessed with sweet things made it cheap and easy way to have a dessert in the middle of the day.)

So my question of the day to ponder is...how do you take your tea?  Do you think it makes a huge statement as to who you are by the way you drink your tea?
